What is waste compactor monitoring?

Waste compactor monitoring automatically detects when a compactor is full and alerts the right person, instead of relying on someone to notice the indicator lamp. TapAlert does it by reading the compactor’s existing “full” lamp with a non-invasive optical sensor — no wiring into the machine — and sending an automatic alert the moment it’s full.

How do you get an alert when a compactor is full?

A small wireless sensor is mounted over the compactor’s existing full-indicator lamp. When the lamp lights and stays lit, the sensor sends the signal to the cloud, which sends an automatic email, SMS or push notification to whoever books the pickup — so no one has to watch the panel. A failure alert also fires if the sensor goes quiet, so you can trust it.

Can you automatically order a waste pickup when the compactor is full?

Yes, as a second phase. If your waste hauler offers an integration, the pickup order can be placed automatically; if they don’t, it can be automated through their portal instead. The alert and fill-frequency data run first, and automatic ordering is added once the hauler’s options are confirmed.

Do you have to wire into the compactor?

No. The sensor reads the indicator lamp optically from outside the panel, so it never touches the compactor’s own electrical or safety systems — and it doesn’t affect the warranty or CE marking.
